Il-Viċi President tal-Kummissjoni Ewropa jfaħħar ir-riżultati ekonomiċi ta’ Malta


Il-Ministru tal-Finanzi, Il-Prof Edward Scicluna, illum il-Ħamis laqa’ lil-Viċi President tal-Kummissjoni Ewropea responsabbli mill-Ewro u mid-Djalogu Soċjali, Valdis Dombrovskis għal taħditiet fil-Ministeru tal-Finanzi, il-Belt. Flimkien mad-delegazzjonijiet rispettivi tagħhom, huma ddiskutew dwar l-andament u l-perspettiva tal-ekonomija Maltija.

Dombrovskis jinsab għal żjara ta’ jumejn f’Malta bħala parti mis-Semestru Ewropew dwar il-koordinazzjoni tal-politiċi ekonomiċi u qiegħed jiddiskuti r-riformi li għaddejjin fil-pajjiż.

 

 

F’konferenza tal-aħbarijiet li ta flimkien mal-Ministru Scicluna, huwa esprima s-sodisfazzjon tiegħu għar-riżultati ekonomiċi miksuba minn Malta, u osserva li f’dan il-qasam pajjiżna sejjer sostanzjalment aħjar mill-medja tal-Unjoni Ewropea.

Il-Ministru Scicluna ikkummenta: “Il-politika li miexi biha dan il-Gvern hija waħda mhux biss għaqlija imma wkoll trasparenti. Il-Gvern iżomm lill-Kummissjoni Ewropea u lill-istituzzjonijiet finanzjarji internazzjonali dejjem aġġoranti bl-aħħar żviluppi fil-finanzi u l-ekonomija nazzjonali, u dan qed iwassal biex jikbru l-kredibbiltà, ir-rispett u l-fiduċja lejn pajjiżna min-naħa ta’ dawn l-organizzazzjonijiet.”

European Commission Vice President commends Malta’s economic peformance

On Thursday, Finance Minister Prof. Edward Scicluna welcomed European Commissioner Vice President and Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue, Valdis Dombrovskis, for talks at the Ministry for Finance in Valletta. Flanked by their respective delegations, they discussed the performance and outlook of the national economy.

Dombrovskis is in Malta on a two-day visit as part of the European Semester on economic policy coordination, and is holding talks on reforms underway in the country.

 

 

Addressing a press conference together with Minister Scicluna, he commended Malta’s economic performance and noted that in this sector the island is performing better than the European Union average.

Minister Scicluna said: “The present Government’s way of doing things is not only smart but also transparent. The Government keeps the European Commission and international financial institutions always updated with the latest developments with regard to the country’s finance and economy, and this leads to the strengthening of the credibility, respect and trust of these organisations towards Malta.
