Finance minister announces pre-budget consultation period, set to begin in September.

The finance minister Edward Scicluna today announced that the pre-budget 2014 public consultation period would begin as from the first week of September.

The consultation process will begin with a meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) on 2 September, 2013.

During this meeting, Scicluna will formally present the document and the government’s vision for the coming Budget to the social partners.

On Wednesday 4 September 2013, the minister will also be inviting various stakeholders to a Pre-Budget 2014 Business Breakfast, where they will have the opportunity to consult, table queries, and share their own respective perspectives.

Scicluna will also hold several pre-budget public consultation meetings around Malta and Gozo to ensure the widest participation possible and which will be open to the public.

He said these public consultation meetings will serve as a valuable platform through which the public can contribute to the pre-budget consultation process.
