Il-Gvern se jtejjeb l-inċentivi għan-Negozji tal-Familja


Il-Ministru tal-Finanzi, Edward Scicluna, faħħar il-kontribut li jagħtu għall-ekonomija tal-pajjiż l-impriżi żgħar u medji mmexxijin mill-familji, u qal li fix-xhur li ġejjin il-Gvern se jkun qed itejjeb l-inċentivi għan-negozji ta’ dan it-tip u jiffaċilitalhom l-użu tal-kreditu.

Waqt żjara li għamel lill-kumpanija Silvercraft Products, li hija bbażata l-Marsa u timmanifattura prodotti tal-fibra tal-ħġieġ (fibreglass), il-Ministru Scicluna irrefera għall-ħidma li għaddejja biex il-Borża ta’ Malta tvara skema biex tagħmel kuraġġ lil ditti żgħar, li jkollhom bżonn iżidu l-kapital tagħhom, biex jinvestu fl-impriżi tagħhom.

“Ma tistax ma tiħux gost tara kumpaniji magħmulin minn membri tal-familja li bdew mix-xejn snin ilu u li, ġenerazzjoni wara l-oħra, issaħħew fin-negozju tagħhom,” ikkummenta l-Ministru Scicluna. “Impriżi bħas-Silvercraft kienu kapaċi jimxu maż-żminijiet u saħansitra jħarsu b’konvinzjoni lejn swieq barra minn pajjiżna.” Is-Silvercraft fetħet fl-1974 mill-familja Baldacchino u llum tħaddem 19-il ruħ. Esportat prodotti, fost l-oħrajn, lejn l-Arabja Sawdija, il-Kuwajt u d-Disneyland ta’ Pariġi.

Il-Ministru Scicluna ddawwar mal-fabbrika mill-maniġment tal-kumpanija, u kellu l-opportunità jiltaqa’ mal-ħaddiema u jara x-xogħlijiet differenti li jaħdmu. Fi tmiem iż-żjara, wieħed mid-diretturi tal-kumpanija, is-Sur Felix Baldacchino, ippreżenta lill-Ministru replika tal-bagalja tal-Baġit magħmula mill-fibra tal-ħġieġ.

Government to improve incentives for Family-Run SMEs

Minister for Finance, Edward Scicluna, commended the valuable contribution family-run SMEs give to the economy and said that, in the coming months, the Goverment will be strengthening the incentives available for enterprises of this kind and facilitating their use of credit.

Speaking during a visit to Silvercraft Products Ltd, a fibreglass company in Marsa, Minister Scicluna said that the Malta Stock Exchange is undertaking studies leading to the launching of a scheme in a bid to encourage small enterprises obtain capital to be able to invest in their business.

“It gives me great satisfaction to witness family-run companies that manage to strengthen their business through successive generations,” said the Minister. “Enterprises like Silvercraft have continued growing and even opened up to foreign markets.” Silvercraft was set up in 1974 by the Baldacchino family, and today employs 19 people. The company has exported products, inter alia, to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Disneyland Paris.

Minister Scicluna was shown around the factory by Silvercraft’s management. He had the opportunity to meet the employees and observe the different types of products manufactured by the company. At the end of the visit, Silvercrafty Director, Mr Felix Baldacchino, presented the Minister with a fibreglass repoduction of the Budget Briefcase.
