Finance Minister at EBRD Constituency meeting in Sarajevo


Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna has recently attended the EBRD constituency meeting in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting focused on a round table discussion on the potential for foreign direct investment in EBRD countries of operations. The Finance Minister was accompanied by the Central Bank of Malta deputy governor Alex Demarco.

Other representatives of EBRD constituency countries included Rusian Beketayev, Vice Minister from the Finance Ministry in Kazakhstan and Androula Panayi, an economic officer from the Cyprus Finance Ministry. These representatives gave brief updates on Kazakhstan and Cyprus respectively. Hamdo Tinjak, Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was also present.

The meeting also discussed the potential for foreign direct investment in the energy sector with Gordan Milinic, the director for the host country foreign investment promotion agency, acting as the guest speaker.

The Finance Minister also attended the concluding session which gave an overview on EBRD results and its strategic outlook. The meeting was chaired by Johannes Seiringer, EBRD Board director, Eddy Azoulay, EBRD Alternate Board Director and Maria Kohlweg, Advisor to Board Director EBRD.

At the end of the session, the Bosnian Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Mirko Sarovic together with Finance Minister Edward Scicluna gave a press conference on the conclusions of the meeting.
