Utility Bills

Labour Party in government will tackle the problem of utility bills. The PL in government will reduce Water and Electricity bills. It has been a promise and it will be a fact. The PL will find the funds to do so as the present government has found the funds to build his parliament.

A Fair Society

At a Labour Party conference held in June 2012 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, Opposition leader Joseph Muscat announced two new proposals a new Labour government would implement if elected. Muscat said Labour is committed to commission a social impact assessment on all major economic decisions once it is in government, and new trusts for disabled people and their parents to safeguard the future of disabled children.

Youth Guarantee

A new Labour government could provide all young people with a guarantee they would be studying, training or in employment after they turned 16. The Labour Party believes that every girl and boy, all young people, whoever they are or where they come from are entitled to the best type of education. We believe that education is the key to social mobility which guarantees each parent that their children have a brighter future. As a party we also believe that the main actors in education are the teachers themselves since they experience the realities the educational system has on a day-to-day basis.  In this manner we guarantee the best quality and best teaching practices underpinned by clear national, credible and sustainable policy which gives top standards to our educational system on an international level.

In touch with People’s concerns

Because PL has learnt its lessons and has embraced the process of change. Under Joseph Muscat’s leadership it has evolved into a progressive and moderate movement, which welcomes people from all walks of life.

Fair Society

Because PL believes in a fair society where every single person has the opportunity to achieve their aims, regardless of their background.

Process of Change

Because PL has learnt its lessons and has embraced the process of change. Under Joseph Muscat’s leadership it has evolved into a progressive and moderate movement, which welcomes people from all walks of life.

Better Spending of Taxpayer’s Money

Because Labour can and will do better with tax payer’s money. It will ensure that tax payers get a better deal and that a new Labour government will prioritize its spending where it is needed most. PL will work to address the current situation where more money is spent on interest to service national debt rather than on our children’s education.

The Natural Home for Progressives and Moderates

Because Joseph Muscat is at the forefront of civil rights issues, such as the divorce legislation, where he campaigned vigorously for its introduction. More recently he has started campaigning for same sex civil unions. Today, the PL has become the natural home for Maltese progressives and liberals.
