The Minister for Finance Prof. Edward Scicluna received a courtesy visit from International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director Carlo Cottarelli on Friday 6th February 2015.
During the visit, Minister Scicluna and Mr Cottarelli discussed the improvements to the Maltese economy brought about by this Government, including the restructuring of various state-owned corporations.

Minister Scicluna also explained this Government’s efforts to improve the labour force participation, especially that of women, through various budget measures, as well as the manner in which the Government is tackling long-standing issued related to pensions and health.
Mr Cottarelli represents the regional constituency of which Malta is a member. The constituency includes Albania, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Portugal and San Marino.
Minister Scicluna and Mr Cottarelli also discussed avenues for potential cooperation between the Maltese Government and the IMF, particularly with regards to much-needed reforms in various sectors.
