Sustainable Development – L-MEP u Int – Prog 105

The word ‘Sustainable Development’ over these last years has become a buzz word used by politicians, economists and others. At the present time the Maltese Parliament is discussing a draft bill which calls for the integration of sustainable development in the Government policies and to promote its adoption. This concept of sustainable development first came to prominence at the Rio Conference twenty years ago in 1992. World leaders are going to meet again in Rio at the ‘The RIO Plus 20’ Summit next June to discuss again sustainable development but with the emphasis on the economy, job creation and on the protection of the environment for the next two decades. Labour European Member of Parliament Professor Edward Scicluna discusses this very important topic in L-MEP u Int programme number 105, aired Friday 2nd March on Smash TV
